Bennington Agrihood Community Visioning Session #4: Regenerative Harvests: Food, Materials, & Energy
Join Conservation Nebraska and the Bennington Agrihood Project for our collaborative Natural Environment Track of the broader Bennington Agrihood Participatory Design Series to share your thoughts and ideas for the development of the upcoming Bennington Agrihood.
The Bennington Agrihood is a collaboration between Regenerative Places and Massena Farms to create a bespoke development solution to address the problems which exist at the nexus of urban, suburban and rural life. This project seeks to build a mixed-use neighborhood around an organic farm, retaining at least half of the farmland while building a livable neighborhood with regenerative agriculture incorporated into daily life. This participatory design event and subsequent events will inform the final designs to be included in the master plan for the Bennington Agrihood. More information on this project can be found by visiting benningtonagrihood.org.
Event #4 | The fourth event in the Natural Environment Design Track will focus on concepts found in the "Provisioning" category of the Ecosystem Services model, which the design track is based on. The topics will include agricultural production, water supply, renewable energy, biomass, wood and other materials, natural medicines and more— all in the context of an eco-conscious, mixed-use land development.
We will begin the session with a presentation from Nancy Williams. Nancy has decades of experience in intersectional domains of agriculture, technology, education, business development and food systems. She currently serves as the Managing Partner for her family's business, Block 27 Consulting, LLC, with the intention to leverage strengths and talents to cultivate collective generational wealth for clients, community and themselves. As the Co-Founder and former President/CEO of No More Empty Pots, Nancy led and managed the grassroots non-profit, connecting individuals and groups to improve self-sufficiency, regional food security and economic resilience of urban and rural communities through advocacy and action.
Following the presentation, participants will engage in several interactive activities to generate new ideas and share thoughts, which will then be compiled to guide the development of this innovative new project.
