Rocket Stove Workshop + Intro to Induction
Learn how to build a rocket stove and how to use an induction stove during this fun workshop with Alan and Nancy Meyer! After the workshop put your cooking skills to the test by using the rocket stove and/or the induction stove to cook items for vegetarian lunch (ingredients provided).
Rocket stoves are highly efficient, wood-burning stoves using an insulated L-shaped combustion chamber to create a "rocket" effect, maximizing heat while minimizing fuel and pollution. Ideal for camping, emergencies, or off-grid cooking using minimal resources.
Induction stoves use electromagnetic fields to directly heat cookware, offering faster, safer, and more energy-efficient cooking compared to gas or electric. Key benefits include precise temperature control, improved indoor air quality, and easy cleanup.
This event is free to attend, but registration is limited and required. The address to the Meyer's property will be shared to everyone who registered before the event. Click here to register: https://secure.ngpvan.com/xSdj3_n9RE-RM3mCcS51SQ2
Alan and Nancy Meyer moved into their 1904 farm home on five rural acres in summer 2000. Over the years they have restored the home in an environmentally conscious way while also maintaining and developing the grounds to provide as much of their food needs as possible. The deinstallation of their propane tank occurred in January 2024, completing their home’s transition from fossil fuel usage. The installation of a battery bank early this summer may allow the property to be disconnected from the grid in 2026.
