Guided by Ted LaGrange, Wetland Program Manager for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, this event delves into the intricate world of wetlands. With over 40 years of experience, Ted has been instrumental in conserving and restoring wetlands across Nebraska. His efforts have earned him national recognition, including the 2020 ELI National Wetlands Award for Wetlands Program Development.
During this family-friendly afternoon, participants will explore Heron Haven's diverse ecosystems, from its tranquil boardwalk trails to its vibrant butterfly garden. Expect to encounter a variety of species, including herons, wood ducks, painted turtles, and numerous bird species that call this urban oasis home. Ted will share insights into the vital role wetlands play in supporting biodiversity, improving water quality, and mitigating flooding.
