The Raptorology program at the Edgerton Explorit Center began 6 years ago with 3 raptors: “Doc” the Eastern Screech Owl, “Ted” the American Kestrel, and “Roy” the Swanson Hawk. Just two years ago they acquired a Bald Eagle named “Aquila”. These birds were rescued by the Raptor Conservation Alliance and deemed non-releasable due to their injuries. They now live out their lives as valuable Education Ambassadors to help people to understand raptor behavior and biology better. Deb has been a volunteer at the Edgerton Explorit Center now for 14 years!
A Note on the Raptorology Program:
These Raptors are gloved-trained for the program and Deb will spend time discussing each raptor; their habitat, the type of nests they build, preferred prey, and other characteristics. There will also be artifacts that can be passed around to see up close and touch.
