Join Conservation Nebraska, Bryan Health and Center for People for a free event with Chef Nazim Khan.

When cooking on a budget, it can feel overwhelming to not only consider the price of your food, but the nutritional value and environmental impact as well. This workshop aims to provide practical cooking strategies that are budget-friendly, nutritious, and have a positive impact on the environment.

Local chef and champion for food-as-medicine, Master Chef Nazim Khan of Bryan Health, will focus on creating meals with minimal waste and whole, seasonal, local foods. Topics such as reducing water usage in cooking, energy-efficient cooking tips, and the nutritional benefits of choosing whole foods will be covered during the presentation, followed by a prepared sample distribution of the demonstration’s creation for participants to enjoy. Additional educational tables from Conservation Nebraska, Bryan Health, and Center for People will be present to give participants the opportunity to gain knowledge to positively impact their lives.

Location:
When you arrive at the Center for People, please enter through Door 3 on the south side of the building. Once inside, enter through the food pantry on the left side of the hallway.

About the Presenter:
Chef Nazim Khan is an award-winning professional executive chef, CEC, WCEC, WCMC. Nazim began his career as a sushi chef in 1997, and, after a varied career path along the east coast, he now serves as executive chef for Bryan Health in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he has developed multiple popular plant-based protein dishes for both retail and patient meal service. In 2016, Nazim was named one of the United Fresh Produce Excellence in Foodservice award winners. In 2019, Chef Khan achieved Worldchefs Certified Master Chef status. In his free time, you can find Chef Nazim serving local firefighter dinners, a continuing tribute to those who died on 9/11. He is currently sharing his passion for healthy, locally sourced food at multiple Lincoln Farmer’s Markets and doing in-house demos helping people to eat in a way to maintain health and helping those struggling with illness to nourish body and spirit.
