The term of service will begin September 1, 2024 and go through August 15, 2025.
This position can be used to satisfy an internship requirement.

Purpose: If you care deeply about our state and ensuring that Nebraska has a bright future, this opportunity is for you. In this position, you will be an AmeriCorps member serving to improve environmental stewardship in Nebraska.
You will play an integral role in building a statewide infrastructure of Nebraskans who care deeply about the environment.

Position Description:
As an AmeriCorps member with Conservation Nebraska, you will build local capacity to manage Nebraska's natural resources by increasing knowledge of and concern for the most important issues facing our state. You will recruit, coach, and support local community volunteers in implementing conservation projects, and build partnerships between conservation professionals, local and state governments, and your fellow community members.
Location: Hastings, Grand Island, Lincoln, Omaha, Norfolk, Scottsbluff
Your Responsibilities will Include:
- Planning and implementing educational events on conservation topics and issues facing our state
- Recruiting and managing community volunteers
- Helping community volunteers organize educational events and/or community discussions focused on conservation issues
- Helping community volunteers organize service-learning projects that benefit local partners
- Assisting in the development and implementation of conservation projects
- Door-to-door canvassing and/or phone banking
- Maintaining accurate contact records of people engaged in the program
- Manage collection and analysis of data
- Expanding and strengthening partnerships between Conservation Nebraska and local entities already working on conservation issues across the state
- Reporting progress regularly to Conservation Nebraska staff
Project and AmeriCorps Service Focuses:
- Our Legacy Nebraska: focus on environmental justice issues
- Nitrate Awareness and Water Quality: focus on water quality issues facing Nebraska including nitrates, atrazine, lead, uranium, and PFAs
- Sustainable Food: assist the development of a more integrated and sustainable local food system
- Volunteer Management and Development: focus on growing and strengthening Conservation Nebraska's volunteer base
- Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency: focus on highlighting the clean energy potential of Nebraska and rebates/incentives that community members can utilize to save money
- Project Energy Nebraska: focus on helping communities research and develop around a greenhouse gas inventory
- Community Gardens: aide in the maintenance and expansion of Conservation Nebraska's community gardens
- Land Management and Restoration: aide in the maintenance and expansion of local spaces through native plant/pollinator work, beautification projects, tree plantings, and cleanups
- Solid Waste management: aide in the development of community projects aimed to improve recycling efforts and lower the amount of waste heading to landfills
