Sustainable Small Home Tour
Did you know the University of Nebraska has an energy efficient, completely off-grid small house located in the heart of Omaha? Neither did we!
Come take a tour of the sustainable small house on May 3rd, 2026 between 8am-12pm. Tours will be given every 30 minutes and limited to 10-15 people.
Located conveniently next to Baxter Arena, stop in before or after your visit to the opening day of the Omaha Farmer's Market in Aksarben!
Not only does the house feature renewable energy, but also xeriscaping, water-efficient and eco-friendly landscaping as the future home of Maverick Gardens, as well as innovative responsive medical monitoring, making the house an excellent alternative housing option for seniors.
A short walk from Stinson Park, the house is just south of Center Street down a dirt road off 68th St. There will be a Conservation Nebraska flag at the start of the dirt road. Check the discussion page for map directions to the house or use the coordinates in your maps app to find your way (41.234812 N, 96.020036 W)
