Bennington Agrihood Community Visioning Session #2: Human-Environment Connection, Recreation and More
If you have been looking for a way to share your voice and be a part of positive change in your local community, this is your opportunity! Join Conservation Nebraska and the Bennington Agrihood Project for our collaborative Natural Environment Track of the broader Bennington Agrihood Participatory Design Series to share your thoughts and ideas for the development of the upcoming Bennington Agrihood.
The Bennington Agrihood is a collaboration between Regenerative Places and Massena Farms to create a bespoke development solution to address the problems which exist at the nexus of urban, suburban and rural life. This project seeks to build a mixed-use neighborhood around an organic farm, retaining at least half of the farmland while building a livable neighborhood with regenerative agriculture incorporated into daily life. This participatory design event and subsequent events will inform the final designs to be included in the master plan for the Bennington Agrihood. More information on this project can be found by visiting benningtonagrihood.org.
Event #2 | The second event in the Natural Environment Design Track will focus on concepts found in the "Cultural" category of the Ecosystem Services model, which the design track is based on. The topics covered in this event will include designing recreational spaces, fostering a sense of connection and well-being, emphasizing human connection to the environment, and more in the context of an eco-conscious mixed-use land development. We will begin the session with a presentation from Hannah Jones, Assistant Division Administrator of the Planning and Programming Division with Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, who will discuss several resources available for the creation of recreational spaces as well as strategies for fostering connection with the environment.
Following the presentation, participants will engage in several interactive activities to generate new ideas and share thoughts, which will then be compiled to guide the development of this innovative new project.
