Position Description

Conservation Nebraska is hiring a Program Manager to strengthen and grow our outreach across the state of Nebraska and ensure solid programming. If you care deeply about our state and ensuring that Nebraska has a bright future, this opportunity is for you.

You will play a vital role in managing our Common Ground AmeriCorps Program. The purpose of the Common Ground Program is to build a statewide infrastructure of Nebraskans who care about the environment and who are knowledgeable about how to manage Nebraska’s natural resources. Our Common Ground program is made up of primarily AmeriCorps members who recruit volunteers, organize monthly educational programs, and implement local conservation projects. As Program Manager, a key part of your job will be to manage these AmeriCorps members and ensure the Common Ground Program’s success. You will also assist in other organizational efforts and activities as directed by organizational leadership staff. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the Common Ground program’s everyday activities, including administration, supervision, and communication with partners
  • Providing ongoing coaching, training, and supervision to the Common Ground AmeriCorps members
  • Regular travel to various communities to ensure programmatic success
  • Communicate Common Ground program progress to leadership staff 
  • Recruit and retain high-quality community organizers including recruitment calls and interviews
  • Aide leadership staff in maintaining compliance in all fiscal and programmatic documentation
  • Aide leadership staff in working with individuals/organizations to identify community needs, leverage community assets, and position the program as a strategy for solving community problems
  • Assist with other organizational educational and advocacy work
  • Other activities as directed by leadership staff

Working Conditions:

This job operates both in a professional office environment and in outdoor and indoor public spaces. The person in the position will frequently be expected to move about to accomplish tasks and move between sites. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and audiovisual systems. The person in this position frequently communicates with community members and must be able to exchange accurate information. Ability to occasionally work evening and weekend hours if needed. This position requires a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Benefits:

  • Starting salary of $44,000 - $56,000
  • Health Insurance. The organization presently pays 50% of the individual health insurance premium for all eligible employees and 100% of dental and vision.
