About our Speaker :
Sara Brock-Contreras is a 4th year Ph.D. candidate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln studying how informal science learning informs individuals’ perceptions on the environment. She graduated with her bachelor’s from Drake University in 2015, taught English in China for a year, then worked for four years at The Groundwater Foundation managing educational programs for diverse groups of stakeholders. She supervised technicians in Neogen’s DNA Extraction lab for a year before starting her Ph.D. in 2022 as the Graduate Research Assistant for the Know Your Well program, a groundwater quality participatory science program based in high school classrooms. While free time is limited in grad school, she spends it volunteering as the School of Natural Resources Graduate Student Association’s Co-Chair and going on walks with her husband and two cats.
