X-WR-CALDESC:Join Conservation Nebraska and Smart Soil for our 3rd Annual P
umpkin Composting Collection this fall for the City of Hastings! \n\nDon't
send your pumpkins to the landfill! Composting gives them a second life a
nd helps reduce organic waste. When pumpkins and other organic materials b
reak down in landfills\, they produce methane\, a powerful greenhouse gas
that contributes to climate change. Composting keeps that organic waste ou
t of landfills and turns it into a valuable resource for healthy soil. The
City of Hastings has composted an outstanding 32\,177 pounds of pumpkins
and gourds in the last two years! \n\nLet’s keep this number rising! Colle
 ction bins will be available November 28 & 29 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. a
 t Aqua Court (2200 W 3rd St.\, Hastings\, NE\, 68901). \n\nPumpkins are no
t allowed to contain extra materials such as lights\, candles\, and batter
ies. No leaves\, sticks\, or other yard waste will be accepted. \n\nFor qu
