The Importance of Nebraska’s Turtles and Salamanders

September 22 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Nebraska has a variety of wonderful wildlife, and among that wildlife are the state’s “Herps”. The word “Herp” is the colloquial term for reptiles and amphibians, in which Nebraska has a little over 60 various species. These remarkable animals play a very important role in the ecosystem, and are oftentimes misunderstood. Aquatic herps such as turtles and salamanders are especially important and can even act as an early warning system for changes in the environment.
Join us for a thrilling talk with Wildlife Biologist and Herpetologist Dennis Ferraro, as he shares his vast knowledge and experience of the aquatic Herps of Nebraska. Attendees will learn all about the importance of these animals, and what they can tell us about what is happening in the ecosystem.
