12 PM – 3 PM: Second volunteer shift for honeysuckle removal
Join Heron Haven Nature Center for the first-ever invasive species workday! Volunteers will be helping Heron Haven remove invasive bush honeysuckle from one of the photo blinds.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own loppers, pruning shears, and hand saws to help remove Honeysuckle. Volunteers are asked to bring their own gloves, safety glasses, and water bottle to ensure their safety and comfort. We also recommend wearing closed-toe shoes, pants, and a long sleeve shirt. A water refill station and some snacks will be provided.
Participation in this volunteer activity does require signing Heron Haven’s safety waiver which will be emailed to you 1 week prior to the event. Paper copies will also be available on the 30th for volunteers to sign. Please register in advance so we know how many volunteers to expect: https://x.gldn.io/aBLorSPrhkb
Then join us, either before or after your workday shift, for a lunch and learn with Nebraska Invasive Species Program’s Allison Zach. Allison will be talking about her efforts to manage and prevent invasive species in Nebraska.
